Notion
Sync Notion pages and databases into an agent's knowledge.
On this page
Sync pages and databases from your Notion workspace so your agent can answer questions grounded in your team's documentation.
How it works#
Runbear connects to Notion via OAuth and indexes the pages you select. The agent searches this content at query time to provide accurate, up-to-date answers. Runbear periodically checks for changes and updates the index automatically.
Setup#
- Open your agent in the Runbear dashboard and go to the Knowledge tab.
- Select Notion.
- Click Connect Notion — a Notion authorization page opens.
- Select the workspace and pages you want to share with Runbear, then click Allow access.
- Back in Runbear, use the page picker to select which pages and databases to sync.
- Click Save. Runbear begins the initial sync.
What gets synced#
- Pages and sub-pages you select in the picker
- Database entries within selected databases
- Content updates are detected and re-synced automatically
Connected through another member's account#
A Notion knowledge base is connected through the Notion account of the member who set it up. If that person leaves or their access changes, another member who can edit the agent can take it over: open the knowledge source and connect your own Notion account. As the notice in the source says, connecting yours "moves it to your account and keeps everything that is already synced", so you don't need to delete the knowledge base and rebuild it.
Notion as a tool#
Syncing gives the agent your Notion content for grounded answers. To also let it work in Notion live, such as searching your workspace on demand or creating pages, click Enable Real Time Access (MCP) at the bottom of the same Notion knowledge source. This adds Notion's MCP server to the agent's tools, the same server listed in the tool catalog, so there is no separate step on the Tools tab. Once it is on, the button reads Configured Real Time Access (MCP); click it to manage the connection. Confluence, Google Drive, SharePoint and Slack knowledge sources offer the same button.
